“We appreciate the blessings and opportunities you have given us.”
Husband and wife Scott and Deanna know all too well the dangers of being homeless in winter.
“We were living in a tent,” Scott recalls. “The wind was blowing; it was below freezing. I thought, ‘We are going to die out here if we keep doing what we’re doing.’ I knew God has something better planned for us.”
“That tent was my rock bottom,” Deanna agrees. “You can never really know what it’s like until it happens to you.”
“Tired of living hungry, cold, and afraid, Scott and Deanna found City Rescue Mission online and came here together straight away.”
Right away, they felt safe and comfortable in our care. They focused on recovery, drawing strength from each other as they worked through our Recovery Program, one of the Bridge to Life programs.
“I wasn’t always substance dependent,” Deanna says. “I was a nurse for 15 years. It’s such a good feeling to be back to the person I once was.”
“I was trying to find Jesus on my own,” she remembers. “But the weekly chapel, that made a huge impact on me. That’s what helped me decide to get baptized.”
Safe, sober, and full of love for God and one another, Scott and Deanna are ready for their new lives and a fresh start, because of the support of people like you.
“We appreciate the blessings and opportunities you have given us,” Scott says. “God bless you.”
