“ I knew things were finally going to be okay”
Nine years ago, Buddy’s wife, Shannon, passed away in a tragic car accident. Buddy was devastated and felt hopeless. He turned away from God and used drugs to fill the void left by his wife’s sudden and tragic departure.
“I thought my life was over,” Buddy remembers.
But when he was given the opportunity to come to City Rescue Mission last year, Buddy jumped at the chance to rebuild his life. Buddy says he had no idea what to expect; but once he met our staff, he knew things were finally going to be okay. Over the next year, Buddy would graduate from our Recovery Program and give his heart back to the Lord.
Today, Buddy works at City Rescue Mission as an intake specialist, where he is one of the first people clients meet when they come to us for care. He is seeing many new faces this Thanksgiving season. Young and old, they walk through our doors not knowing what to expect, but Buddy is there to meet them with a smile that says, “You’re safe. Everything is going to be all right now.” Buddy is living proof of how the gifts and caring of friends like you can rebuild what was broken — this holiday season, and throughout the year.
“Thank you for your gifts to City Rescue Mission,” Buddy says. “You are changing lives every day, and I pray God will continue to use us to help so many people.”
Your gifts to the Mission help give individuals like Buddy hope and a chance at a new life. Thank you.
