“It’s time for me to have a life.”
Terri’s mom was severely bipolar, and as an only child Terri knew that the burdens and blessings of caring for her mother would fall squarely on her shoulders. For decades taking care of others was all Terri thought about.
Then, Terri’s mother passed away.
“I was so burned out after my mom died,” Terri recalls. “She was my best friend. I really didn’t care about what happened to me after that.”
With nowhere to go and no one to turn to, Terri came to City Rescue Mission to find the help she needed.
That was 18 months ago. Today, after bettering herself through our Recovery Program, one of the Bridge to Life programs, and Bible study, Terri’s transformation is complete.
“I had to learn how to take care of myself again,” she says. “I was always taking care of others and putting them before myself. Now, it’s time for me to have a life.”
