“You’ve helped me so much”
No one knows the horrors of homelessness better than Michelle. For 10 years she struggled to survive on the streets. The violence she experienced while homeless left her broken physically and mentally.
“I was stabbed, beat up, robbed, everything,” she says. “All my teeth in front were broken.”
When Michelle hit rock bottom, she says she knew she needed help if she was going to survive.
“I needed to get out,” she says. “I didn’t want to die, and I sure didn’t want to die homeless. My goal was to be healthy, and happy, again with a job.”
A friend told Michelle that City Rescue Mission could give her the help she needed. Michelle came here as soon as she could and was welcomed with open arms.
Today, Michelle has nearly completed our Bridge to Life program, and in that short time her life has been transformed! The anxiety that has affected Michelle since she was a teenager is finally under control, she has a beautiful new smile, and she has deepened her relationship with the Lord.
Michelle is feeling better than ever and hopeful for the future. “There’s no words that can say how much I thank City Rescue Mission,” Michelle says. “You’ve helped me so much. I didn’t know that people could care as much as they do here.”
Only through the generosity of friends like you can we continue making a real, lasting difference in the lives of more hurting people like Michelle. Thank you for all you do!
