“ I feel like this is the beginning of the rest of our lives”
Escape was the only thing on Jasmine’s mind as she frantically packed food and clothes for her three young children and piled them all into her car. No plan. No money. Just a desperate need to escape a man whose violent temper plagued them day and night. Jasmine had the bruises to prove it. They drove for four long days, stopping only to sleep.
“It was scary,” Jasmine says. “I didn’t know where we would end up. I just knew that we needed to get far away. We were literally homeless.”
Oklahoma City felt far enough away from her old life. And when she found City Rescue Mission on the internet, she came straight here with her children.
As soon as Jasmine met our staff, her fears began to fade.
Jasmine and her children’s needs were immediately tended to, and, over the next year, the scars of her past began to heal as Jasmine worked through the Bridge to Life program.
“I’m glad my kids and I are able to celebrate Thanksgiving this year. We came from such a bad place where we had nothing,” Jasmine says. “But now my kids see a totally different mom, and I feel like this is the beginning of the rest of our lives. You are the reason this happened. I’m so appreciative of what you’ve done not only for me and my children, but for other people at the Mission too.”
