In late September of 2015, KK cameto City Rescue Mission looking for hope and purpose. She had gone through a rough spot in life, became homeless and wanted a new start. Because of donors like you, she found it – and rediscovered her calling for cooking – during her first Thanksgiving as a client at the Mission.
“I was looking for a purpose and I found it here. I welcome everyone to come and see what can happen. This place can change your life if you’re willing to do your part.”
It all started with cinnamon apple pancakes, the special Thanksgiving Day breakfast treat she prepares for more than 1,000 people – people looking for purpose like she once was.
At 3 a.m. every Thanksgiving, KK and her team get started on the day of delicious meals ahead. That means whipping up 2,000 pancakes (the shining star on the breakfast menu), scrambled eggs, sausage patties, coffee and orange juice for the 7:30 a.m. breakfast. Before they get started, KK leads her team in prayer and they share a meal together to reflect on God’s gifts. None of this would be possible without incredible donors like you. You are helping so many homeless men, women and children experience God’s love and a hearty holiday meal.
“It’s a great honor to give someone a special holiday. I’m investing in giving someone else what I’ve been given.”
Thank you for making our Thanksgiving Breakfast and Banquet possible!
Because of you, we’ve been able to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of thousands of people already this year. But there’s so much more to be done. Please send the most generous gift you can today to help us stock the shelves and provide food, shelter and the hope of God this Thanksgiving season.
