OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. – June 10, 2019 — City Rescue Mission is pleased announce Debbie MacDonald as its new Development Director.
After 38 years, MacDonald is back in her home state, with a calling to serve the homeless in Oklahoma City.
With more than 35 years in business and nonprofit sectors, most recently as development director for Dallas-based ministry, 4word, MacDonald will oversee City Rescue Mission development initiatives dedicated to helping the homeless, work closely with the community to spread awareness, strengthen collaboration efforts with other organizations and build donor recognition.
“We’re honored to have Debbie join the City Rescue Mission family, and look forward to the breadth of experience and compassion she’ll bring to the role,” said Interim President Erin Goodin. “We believe she will make an impact with the community at large and create intentional, innovative ways to further our mission.”
With firsthand experience in not only Christian ministry and development, but family strife with addiction, MacDonald feels especially drawn to homeless outreach and building relationships within the community.
“Faith is my foundation, and it is an honor and a privilege to serve those in need. These are our citizens. Our people. We are here to offer help and hope.” says MacDonald.
MacDonald’s first efforts will be grassroots – engaging with and getting to know all of the people who make City Rescue Mission’s work possible – from donors and businesses to partner agencies and volunteers.
“Building awareness and understanding of how much more we can do as a community to provide a path back to hope for the men, women and children struggling with homelessness in our city is crucial,” says MacDonald. “And I know that together, we can plant a seed of God’s love, and offer help that heals and transforms lives.”
For nearly 60 years, City Rescue Mission has helped the homeless in Oklahoma City. While the nonprofit organization has largely been known as a place of temporary refuge, it is much more than hot meals and a safe place to stay. City Rescue Mission currently partners with more than 70 local agencies, offering free and comprehensive care to its clients. Operating the state’s largest free drug and alcohol recovery program, Bridge to Life, the nonprofit provides tools and support essential to helping clients transition to stable and safe housing, employment and healthy lifestyles.
