Volunteer

Volunteers are essential to City Rescue Mission's everyday operations. Through the many volunteers that give of their time each month, God is making a difference in the lost and hurting in Oklahoma City.

By volunteering you are not only acknowledging the need for change in our community, you're becoming a part of the solution! There are hundreds of homeless men, women, and children in the Oklahoma City metro that not only need food, shelter, and clothing, but they also need to see the body of Christ at work. Volunteering is an excellent way to exercise your roll in the body of Christ.

Volunteer Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I'm interested in volunteering at City Rescue Mission, how do I get started?
A: You need to submit a volunteer application (click here to fill out the application) and background check through our website. Once your application has been processed, we will call you to schedule your volunteer orientation.

Q: What is Volunteer Orientation?
A: Once potential volunteers pass a background check, they will be notified and asked to attend a Volunteer Orientation. During orientation we will discuss:

· Volunteer Policies and Procedures
· Areas for volunteers to serve
· Take a tour of the Mission
· Have Question and Answer Session

Q: I’m a group leader interested in bringing my group; do I need to have every member fill out an application and background check?
A: You as a leader will need to fill out a "Group Volunteer Application" through our website. Each member of your group, 18-years-of age and older, must have a background check in order to volunteer at the Mission. You can submit and pay $5 for your background check through the website. Once all the background checks have been completed you will be contacted to schedule a volunteer time at the Mission. Groups must not be larger than 30 people.

Q: I've been volunteering at City Rescue Mission for quite some time, but I've never filled out a volunteer application. Do I still need to fill out an application and background check?
A: Yes, City Rescue is required to conduct a background check on every volunteer to fulfill insurance requirements. We only do this to insure that City Rescue Mission remains a safe environment for every client and volunteer that walks through our door.

Q: I want my family to get involved at City Rescue Mission but we have young children, is there an age limit to volunteer at City Rescue?
A: We do not have an age limit for volunteering; we encourage families to come in and show the love of Christ to our clients as a family and we have several specific volunteer opportunities that are family-friendly. Any person younger than 18 must stay with a guardian while on property.

Q: Does City Rescue Mission have a Volunteer Internship Program?
A: Yes, for more information on our Volunteer Internship Program please contact Justin White at jwhite@cityrescue.org.

Q: What Volunteer Opportunities are available at the Mission?
